I am a Designer/Artist based in Cambridgeshire. Following on from a full time career as a Designer in London, I have worked on an ‘ad hoc’ basis in London and, as a Craft Designer for Debbi Moore.
More recently (in the last couple of years), I have also discovered a love of lino printing. This has broadened my range ofskills and given a new style to my artwork.
Having attended a class with printmaker Nina Sage in Hilton I became hooked on the whole process of printmaking. I enjoy refining an idea and designing an image, carving it into the plate (the Lino), and pulling the prints. I also enjoy using a process called Chine Colle where patterned or specialist paper is added to the print for a final splash of colour.
My Art work and Designs are created in the studio and then printed on a printing press installed in my print room. We also have a room that I can use for the first time as a Gallery for the Cambridge Open Studios in July this year 2019.
I have always loved drawing, since I was very young, and have always been driven to create figurative images and to work a lot with patterns and natural floral shapes. In some images both figurative work and patterns are combined to bring together a cohesive design.
I am inspired by artists around at the start of the 20th Century, most particularly Art Nouveau artists, such as William Morris, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Aubrey Beardsley, Gustave Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, René Lalique and Erté.
As well as creating my own prints I also love to design craft products for others and I am particularly proud of the designs that I have created for Debbi Moore. I am excited to be working on new projects with her that will be coming soon.
