Bella Tapp – About Me

Bella Tapp

This website is my little creative corner of the internet, designed to be useful to anyone who wishes to be creative.

This page, however, is ‘About Me’.

Rather than fill up the page with dry and dusty dates, qualifications and accomplishments, I’ve chosen to pick out a few of the most memorable or distinctive things about me, some random, some relevant, and it’s up to you to decide which is which!

I’ve been a designer most of my working life and drawing since I can remember. In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to design a wide variety of things. This is not to brag, but to show that design and creativity do not need to be limited to one field.  It’s fun and exciting to experiment, develop, and mix and match your skills. Learning new techniques in one area is all about gaining additional expertise that you can transfer across into something new.

Some of the items I’ve had the great pleasure to design:

Murals – (I painted these too)
Craft Stamps
Tattoos (I didn’t apply these!)
Artwork for Craft products
Tiaras, Belt Buckles, Watches, Jewellery, Key rings
Props for Summer Fairs
Events Posters
Backdrops for school productions

Logos and Stationery
Creative Displays for School Classrooms
Pottery Painting
Greetings Cards
Celebration Cakes
Jewelled Objets d’Art – Bowls, Boxes, Goblets, Handbags, Clocks, Opera glasses, Glassware

I believe that anyone who can hold a pencil and sign their own name, has the capability to be able to learn to draw. This is a hotly debated topic, and one that divides people. Yes, learning to draw is difficult, but it is just that learning.

Two things are important here. No one gets into a car and expects to be able to learn to drive immediately, and yet, if they pick up a pencil and do not draw what they intended, they think that they have no talent and therefore it’s not worth continuing. Sometimes you need to (sometimes quite literally) rub out, delete or go back to the beginning to make something better.

I also believe that you can learn to be creative, that inspiration is a process that can be shared and taught

If you want to know what drives me, I LOVE being creative, whether that’s through Art, Design or Craft. I feel completely fulfilled and very happy when I spend the whole day doing just that!

I love spending time with crafty friends and getting inspired and creative together. Debbi, Sarah, Amanda, Elizabeth and others, – you know who you are – it’s always such good fun when we share our inspiration, we just seem to create more and more!

I enjoy Cardio tennis (Google it!) and running, not that I’ve done much of either recently. I also enjoy reading about Art, Design and Craft – no surprise there! However, I’m also fascinated by philosophy, how the brain works and why people think the way they do. If that sounds really lofty and high brow, don’t worry, hilariously, although the subject is really interesting to me, I’m very unlikely to bore you with it, as I only remember about half of what I read!

No one knew I was going to be born till the day I arrived!  It was in the days before ultrasound and even though my mother kept falling forward in the street, they were none the wiser. Family folklore says that the midwives were clearing away after my sister had been born, when a midwife called the attention of the doctor with ….’don’t go just yet, there’s another one coming!’.

My identical twin is a part of me and has my complete trust, love and admiration.
